Police in Kwara have reportedly arrested four suspected cult group members for allegedly involving in cult-related activities within Ilorin metropolis.
The Senior Special Assistant on Security Intelligence to the Kwara Governor, Dr Bolakale Abdulsalam, announced this news on Friday in Ilorin.
He revealed to newsmen that the police had also arrested six people for drug-related offences.
According to Abdulsalam, the suspects were arrested at Agbo-oba area of Ilorin following an investigation by the security operatives.
He explained that the suspects are now in the police custody and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), where they were being interrogated.
Abdulsalam also said that some officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) were night drafted to mount static surveillance on a hotel in Ilorin, in order to stop an initiation of new cult members scheduled for midnight.
He said the state government is committed to the protection of lives and property and the maintenance of law and order in the State.
